Medallion Open Obedience Trial

The GSDCV Open
Obedience Trial is our only night trial starting at 7PM on a Friday night!
Strange time you might say but many competitors think it is novel to hold
a trial indoors at the ‘aircraft’ pavilion at KCC Park!
We started the night trial a few years ago as some handlers think they
perform better at night – and in any case it keeps the weekend free for other
activities. On this occasion we
were pleased to have in attendance the President David Hynd, and the Vice
President Phil Vincent to see how a night trial falls together!
Judges and
stewards were welcomed early with an incredible meal light prepared by Marilyn
– a country soup full of Ballarat’s best veggies, roast beef, salads and
deserts – and of course there was sandwiches and more food available for the
competitors after the trial had finished.
The trial
commenced at 7PM under the aircraft hangar lights and we had a good mix of
breeds entered. The trial committee and helpers were:
Trial Committee: Jane Morrey, Marilyn Wrigley, Alex Dordevic VCA Representative: Dawn Howard
First Aid Officer: Ann Sciveras
Judges: Frank Valastro, N McIlroy, Frank Neeson, Margaret Deakes, Clive Makepeace, Neville Kay, M
Ashman
Stewards: Stephen Gunst, Kaye Whitehouse, J Tahourdin, Pam Makepeace, Sue Speers, Ivan Hipworth, Willie Lucas
Helpers: Rosie Garbett, Willie Lucas, Ros Walton, Bev Allen
and all the people who assisted with setup and pull down!

The presentations
were noisy of course because of all the cheering (up the GSD’s!, up the
pointers!, up the Vizslas!) and of course what else would you expect on a Friday
night but that one or two of our competitors had had one or two (or a dozen) of
scotland’s best fluids!
Many thanks for
ProPlan for sponsoring the event and for David Hynd for making some of the
presentations for us!
The GSDCV Trial
Committee thanks all competitors, judges, stewards and everyone who helped at
the trial. Please note the next
trial which will be on
Marilyn Wrigley,
Jane Morrey and I welcome constructive comments from members on how we can
improve our trials further. You can
