Obedience Trial Results! 70th Championship Show and Restricted Trial at KCC Park 11th March 2000 The weather bureau reckons theyre 85% accurate huh! Well they were 100% wrong on the Saturday morning of this trial - they predicted a cool day and it turned out to be so blisteringly hot that many of the competitors got sunburnt (OK OK only the dumb ones like me that didnt bring any protection!!) The trial commenced at 9AM and ran very smoothly thanks to the efficiency of our trial manager Jane Morrey and the trial team. Our crew were: Trial Committee: Jane Morrey, Marilyn Wrigley, Alex Dordevic VCA Representative: Dawn Howard First Aid Officer: Mandy Scrivens Judges: Honey Gross-Richardson, Lyn Klecka, Anne Safianski Stewards: Mary OSullivan, Ken McKay, Sue Speers, Mary Bell, Alan Smith, Cheryl Walker, Jane Morrey Helpers: General thanks to the many people who assisted with ring setup and pull down! We held presentations at the ring show style, with the first five place getters standing next to a pole and being critiqued by the judge on their performance. This is valuable to both the spectators and the competitors, who get more of an insight into the judges scoring. We thank Lyn and Honey for their commentary - as you will see later in this edition, Honey has kindly presented a critique of the competitors in her ring for us to enjoy! The Results!! I will report results to the first three placings, unless there are less than three competitors in the class. I have also decided to list non qualifiers where they have gained a place in the first three. Encouragement - Judge: Ms A Safianski
Novice Dog - Judge: Mrs H Gross-Richardson
Novice Bitch - Judge: Mrs Lyn Klecka
Open Dog - Judge: Mrs H Gross-Richardson
Open Bitch - Judge: Mrs L Klecka
Utility Dog - Judge: Mrs H Gross-Richardson
3rd place - A MacDonalds Bodecka Avenger - 142 points NQ
Utility Bitch - Judge: Mrs L Klecka
Best in Trial- Judge: Mrs H Gross-Richardson
The GSDCV Trial Committee thanks all competitors, judges, stewards and everyone who helped at the trial. Personally I was disappointed that we did not have more spectators for the obedience trial and especially the Best-of-Trial. Despite several announcements welcoming our show brethren to come and watch the obedience run-off, most of the faces I saw were from the obedience fraternity. The Best in Trial is a showcase of the obedience talent at the trial and deserves to be strongly supported by all members of the GSDCV. Obedience is a key part of the future of the German Shepherd in Australia. Please please support it at the State Breed and Restricted Obedience Trial in April - come and see the obedience! Of course the same goes for the obedience fraternity - go see the conformation classes!
Marilyn Wrigley, Jane Morrey and I welcome constructive comments from members on how we can improve our trials further. You can either speak to Jane Morrey on the day of the trial, or write to the Secretary, OTC, 26 Turner Street GREENSBOROUGH 3088 or email me at alex.dordevic@dpc.vic.gov.au.
